When John asked me to have a blog on Budapest from Paris, I was wondering what kind of news I could bring in.
I cannot be considered as a frequent traveller to Budapest, 4 or 5 times a year but I have been deeply in Love with Budapest since my first visit in 2001.
However, I have been living in Paris for the past 10 years and I am also equally emotionally and culturally devoted to the City Light and Budapest.
I knew that L’Avion, that is a high end airline company between Paris and New York invented the word PariYorkers to describe the travellers that were living between the two cities.
I decided that I would write about living in Paris and being deeply attracted by Budapest ; being some kind of “Pestian” while in Paris : looking for chestnut Puree everywhere and pretending that geszténypüre has nothing to do with “Montblanc”, desperately seeking for Nyakas Budai Sauvignon while your friends are sipping a glass of Chablis white wine and trying to imagine that Les Halles swimming pool will be sooner or later converted in a natural thermal bath after its works !
I am not ready to give up my parisian Velib’s but I am willing to meet hungarian culture and hungarians everywhere in Paris.
Next time, I will tell you about my hungarian course at Parizsi magyar intézetben (Hungarian Council).
